The Maple & Ginkgo Ecotourism Scenic Area, a national 4A-rated tourist destination in Nandan County, Guangxi, is a remarkable example of environmental restoration and sustainable tourism. Once an abandoned mining area, the site underwent extensive ecological remediation starting in September 2020. The project revitalized 824 acres of wasteland, transforming it into a vibrant landscape filled with precious flora.

A lush tapestry of flora
The scenic area boasts an impressive collection of trees and flowers designed to heal the land and delight visitors, including red maple trees, ginkgo trees, ornamental peach trees, hard persimmon trees, rhododendrons, peonies and acres of pink muhly grass. In addition, hydrangeas, dahlias, orchids, and other vibrant species create a dynamic palette of colors and textures, blending seamlessly with the surrounding hills, lakes, and forests.
A sustainable vision
The project integrates ecological restoration with modern tourism by rehabilitating abandoned mining sites through soil replacement and environmental management. It enhances biodiversity through reforestation and planting, and develops eco-friendly infrastructure like boardwalks and scenic trails.
Eco-friendly design with bamboo walkways
To complement the scenic area’s eco-conscious philosophy, the pathways are built using ZHUART’s deep charcoal thermo bamboo decking, harmonizing with the vibrant orchards, expansive grasslands, and azure skies. The bamboo decking embodies sustainability while offering durability and aesthetic appeal, perfectly aligning with the park’s vision of natural integration.
